Orchid
: Phalaenopsis sps
This is one of the images from the first roll of film I shot on
the 35mm SLR camera that I had just bought. I had bought the Nikon
N60 and a set of zoom lenses for the tropical field biology trip
to the Hawaiian Islands in December 1998. I was trying out the camera
and getting used to controlling aperture and shutter. This orchid
was shot in the greenhouse of the Botany Department at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison. There was just about enough light to handhold
the camera.

Another
orchid
Same story as the above picture. I do have a bunch of slides of Bhutanese
orchids, I just haven't gotten around to scanning them yet.

Veins
of a large leaf
I forget what plant this is, but the leaf was as big as an umbrella.
It was photographed in Kauii during my tropical field biology trip.
